In March the society performed The Patriarch and the Painter, a new oratorio on the theme of the twelve paintings of jacob and his sons by the 17th century Spanish artist Zurbaran in Auckland Castle, Bishop Auckland. It was a co-production with Changeling Productions and every seat was taken for the three night run in March. The performance involved the choral society, the youth choir, the Spennymoor Town Band, a professional instrumental ensemble, a player of the tible, Xavi Pinol from the Cobla Marinada in Barcelona and a group of dancers from St. Joseph's Primary School, choreographed by Raul Calderon of Dance City in Newcastle. |
